Description (brief)
Dagger and bludgeon made of crocodile (lower) jaw. The front part of the jaw with teeth is wound with a stiffly knotted tree bark fibre. Attached to the plaiting are tubular beads with tufts of casuarisfeathers, all bound with bark fibre chord. The jaw is worn over the shoulder by a rattan chord. Ritual weapons of this kind were worn by men during feasts celebrating headhunting and the initiation of boys. They were beneath the arm or stuck in plaited bracelet on the upper arm.
